Stefan Peters, director del Instituto Colombo-Alemán para la Paz (CAPAZ), hace un análisis sobre por qué el manejo de la crisis por el coronavirus no debe ser tratado dándole la espalda de la paz. Todo lo contrario, para él, la lucha contra el coronavirus y la lucha por la paz son dos caras de la misma moneda.
En estos días sólo existe un tema: ¡el coronavirus! Todos los días recibimos muchas noticias terribles sobre el avance del virus y demasiadas pocas luces de esperanzas. Lo que es particularmente preocupante, es que nos encontramos sólo al principio. El 2020 es un año fatídico. El coronavirus seguirá siendo el tema principal en las próximas semanas y meses. Sin embargo, en este momento corremos el riesgo de descuidar u olvidar otros temas centrales para el futuro del país.
Esto es particularmente preocupante en vista del proceso de paz. La paz en Colombia sigue siendo una planta delicada y corre el riesgo de ser arrastrada por la tormenta del coronavirus. Las consecuencias serían dramáticas: para las víctimas, para la sociedad y para las regiones más afectadas por el conflicto armado, pero también para la economía y el posicionamiento del país en el escenario político internacional. Por lo tanto, sólo puede haber un lema: el manejo de la crisis por el coronavirus no debe ser tratado dándole la espalda de la paz. Todo lo contrario, la lucha contra el coronavirus y la lucha por la paz son dos caras de la misma moneda. La consigna hoy es: ¡apoyar la vida y apoyar la paz!
